ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Tony Constable

Tony was born in 1942 in Ilford, Essex, England, during the height of the Battle of Britain. He attended grammar school in Wanstead, Essex, until he was almost 16. He worked progressively interesting jobs to become a computer programmer/software developer, first for the UK computer company ICL and then for Tesco Stores. In 1968, at age 25, Tony left the UK to join a Washington, DC-based consultancy that was solving problems for NASA and other agencies. One could say Tony went down the “UK’s ‘Brain Drain’” to join in the “US’s ‘Space Race.’”

After several consulting gigs and developing a commercial software product, Tony relocated to California and became exposed to Silicon Valley’s formative years. Returning to the East Coast two years later, he became a serial entrepreneur, establishing, growing, and selling his first business before starting and growing his second company.

In the Fall of 2022, as Tony was winding down his second business, he started writing his autobiography, ‘In My Life: Anthony “Tony” Constable.’ As often happens, there were unexpected turns along the way. Instead of just writing his autobiography, he also penned a companion “How To” book describing the process and decisions involved with designing, writing, and publishing a memoir. This led to an even more ambitious project: starting his own publishing company. So it was that In My Life Autobiographies (IMLA) was born, beginning a new chapter in Tony’s business life.

IMLA sincerely hopes you and those to whom you gift the IML-ai Product will be inspired to describe their lives in words and pictures for friends, colleagues, and present and future family members. Tony says he had great fun writing and producing both of the product’s books with the help of several beta readers, and removing or toning down some of the more controversial bits. IMLA wants you to know, dear reader, that Tony is pleased he did it, and knows that those motivated to make the same journey themselves will be pleased, too. Tony says that gratitude is insufficient to express his thanks to all who made the IML-ai Product possible. First is his wife, Jennifer, who supported his efforts and mental absences. In the process, however, she learned a lot about him, and he learned a lot about himself. Then there is his faithful dog D’Jango, who waited patiently for Tony when inspiration was not to be denied. Tony’s indispensable beta readers and other helpers included Gil Fletcher, Charlie Ross, Gordon Chism, John Shiel, Richard Harkins, Kim Roberts, Chris Martin, Evelyn Ferrari, and my older brother, John M. Constable. Fran Byrne, Jennifer Constable, and Chris Eliff supplied the photographic content. These supporters and contributors all helped IMLA bring the IML-ai Product to life.

In addition to being the designer and author of the IML-ai Product’s books, Tony Constable is also IMLA’s President & CEO. Tony’s vision is to make IMLA:

• a one-stop Publishing House for autobiographies and other books,
• a creator, curator, and seller of autobiographies, books, and other products, and
• a provider of on-demand advice, support, and professional publishing services.

Tony has planned and will be busy rolling out an ambitious set of author support services, including a cell phone app to help authors begin, stay on track, and complete their memoirs.
